9/3/2011 Meet the Student Advisory Trustees

Meran Liu is a senior at Hoffman Estates High School. In her spare time, she likes to read books and participate in STDL reading programs. She also enjoys swimming and playing badminton, as well as participating in band, flags, math team, newspaper, and scholastic bowl at her school. Meran is very excited to take on the Student Trustee position, and she hopes to make a difference in the community by making the voices of teens heard. Her goal is to give teens an opportunity to contribute ideas, suggestions, and work to the library in order to create a better public environment.

Avni Bavishi is currently a senior at Hoffman Estates High School. She participates in Scholastic Bowl, Newspaper, Math Team, Student Congress, National Honor Society, Tennis and Badminton. Avni is also a volunteer at the local hospital. Avni has been an active library patron and participant since she was young. She particularly enjoys the summer reading program and always participates. Avni is very passionate about reading, and hopes to spread this love to others in the school. She hopes to assist the Board by bringing in information about the diverse interests of teens. She also is looking to increase teen participation in library programs.
