New Teen Area
11/1/2011
Hello!
After much deliberation, the teen center is becoming a reality! We have selected furniture, carpeting, wallpaper – and everything imaginable. Construction should begin early 2012, and hopefully the Center will be ready for use by the next school year! Be excited, because there’s all sorts of cool stuff planned – from a digital media lab with green screens, to collaborative discussion rooms where you can plug in a computer, to a mini-bistro area. Hopefully you’re all as excited as I am about the new area! Things are being finalized at the November board meeting, so we’ll keep you updated.
Thanks,
Avni Bavishi

Hi everyone!
Hope you’ve all been having a great summer so far. I’ve got some really exciting news to share with you–a brand new STDL Teen Center is in the works!! That’s right, it’s official: after several meetings with the awesome architects at PSA Dewberry, the library has a great start on improving our teen center in size, function, and design. The new area for teens will be upstairs, and is slated to be several times larger than the current one. We’re thinking about new furniture, new walls with cool designs, and some really interesting concepts for splitting the center into several different zones to serve different purposes. As of right now, the blueprint features a quiet study/reading area, a group study area, a gaming area, a teen program area, and even an area with vending machines! We still have a ways to go on the final design and all the concerns that come with it, but we’re definitely looking at a new teen center that will open next year. So keep your eyes and ears peeled for more news (and be sure to be extra nice to any of the librarians you come across
)!!
